Getting More from Our Energy
Smart strategies make it easier for utility customers to manage energy costs
At a time when every dollar counts, Energy Trust of Oregon continues to invest in innovative and low-cost solutions to help homeowners, renters and businesses reduce their energy usage. For every $1 we spend on energy efficiency, our investments bring $4 in benefits to the customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural and Cascade Natural Gas.
Since 2002, Energy Trust services and cash incentives have given customers the support they needed to save enough energy to power all the homes in Portland for one year and heat all the homes in Pendleton with natural gas for five years. Oregonians also tapped into our services to install more than 2,500 renewable energy systems powered by the sun, wind, water and other sources.
Utility bill savings of nearly $800 million
Participating customers save money on their energy bills by completing energy-efficiency and renewable power improvements with help from Energy Trust. Projects completed in 2010 saved participants an estimated $177 million. Once an energy improvement is made, the savings continue year after year. By the end of 2010, participant bill savings added up to nearly $800 million for projects installed since 2002.
Our mission
As a nonprofit organization created for, and by, Oregonians, Energy Trust is a resource for utility customers wanting to use energy wisely and generate clean, renewable energy. In addition, services and incentives are now available to
NW Natural customers in Washington.
Our work, funded by ratepayers of four utilities, helps keep energy costs as low as possible, creates jobs and builds a sustainable energy future.
