Clothes Washers

Save loads on your water costs by upgrading to new energy-efficient clothes washers for your property’s common-area laundry facility. High-efficiency models save you money on water heating costs, as well as water and sewer costs, by using less hot water. The faster spin cycle extracts more water from clothes, reducing drying time and energy use.

The energy efficiency of a clothes washer is indicated by the Modified Energy Factor (MEF), which accounts for dryer energy and water heating energy associated with the washer’s use. The Water Factor (WF) indicates the number of gallons needed for each cubic foot of laundry. A higher MEF and lower WF indicates a more efficient clothes washer.

Requirements

(Must have an MEF of 2.0 or greater and a WF of 6.0 or lower)
Residential/in-unit

Leased clothes washers are eligible for an incentive if the lease agreement is for a minimum of seven years.

Your property must be an Oregon rental property or condominium building with five or more units (properties with fewer than five units, please visit the Small Multifamily pages). The property’s energy must be primarily delivered by Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas to qualify for Energy Trust cash incentives. Energy-saving improvements must meet program requirements.
