Stephanie and Justyn Baker's 1925 home in NE Portland looked decent from the outside, but inside it begged for help. Their home energy makeover included air sealing, insulation, a high-efficiency gas furnace, tankless gas water heater, an energy-efficient front door and an ENERGY STAR® refrigerator—all provided by the contest sponsors. The Bakers, whose home is heated by gas from NW Natural, can expect to see their energy costs shrink by as much as 50 percent.
