About Monitoring Load Shape for Energy Savings

This free half-day seminar will help you understand what the energy experts look for in your load shape to analyze the use of energy in your business or organization. Experts will show you how to use the meter “interval data” to look for savings opportunities.

 

This seminar will equip participants to better:

  • Understand your energy bill and basic electricity concepts
  • Learn to convert interval data into load shape
  • Learn to use load shape collected daily, weekly or monthly to identify energy opportunities
  • Learn about benchmarking and when to apply the practice to your facility
  • Learn the basics of Energy Star certification and related benchmarking

Instructors

Rick Durst, Energy Information Services Program Manager, Portland General Electric, EPA. Rick Durst has 19 years in the electric utility industry plus 10 years as an electrician in the U.S. Nuclear Submarine Service. He has lead PGE’s Energy Information Services program for the last 7 years and also manages PGE’s Demand BuyBack, Plug in Vehicle and Web-based Power Quality Monitoring programs. Rick also serves as a board member for the Oregon Association of Professional Energy Managers.

 

Greg Nelson, Commercial/Industrial Energy Specialist, Portland General Electric, PE. Greg is a mechanical engineer with more than twelve years experience in commercial and industrial systems design and operation. Greg specializes in identifying energy efficiency improvement opportunities with businesses, schools, governments, and other non-profit organizations.

 

Cost

Free to PGE customers. Others are welcome based on space, small fee may apply.

 

Accreditation

  • Chemeketa or Clackamas Community Colleges: 0.4 CEUs (continuing education units)
  • IFMA: Qualifies for four CFM maintenance points
  • BOMA: Certificate of Completion that can be used toward certification
