Simple solutions for boosting your budget.

Public K-12 Schools

School systems across Oregon face continuing budget challenges. But with Energy Trust assistance, you can reduce operating costs through a variety of energy-efficiency projects and, in turn, devote more funds to classroom instruction and extracurricular activities. We work with Oregon school districts and education service districts to identify, plan and implement projects that save energy, lower operating expenses, improve student, faculty and staff comfort and contribute to a more sustainable future.

If you're with a public K-12 school, your first best step is to access your district's public purpose funds through the Oregon Department of Energy. These funds are available for energy-efficiency improvements in existing instructional buildings. They can also be used for energy audits, investments to save electricity, natural gas, fuel oil or propane or to replace metal halide or mercury vapor light fixtures. For more information, visit the Oregon Department of Energy website.

Download Guide for Oregon Schools (PDF) for more information about the resources available and requirements for energy efficiency and renewable energy project funding. You can also read how several Oregon schools throughout the state implemented new construction, energy efficiency retrofit and renewable energy projects.
