Our Location

Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Sr. Marketing Manager, Renewables and New Initiatives would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.

What We’re Looking For:

Under the general supervision of the Marketing Lead for Energy Programs, the Sr. Marketing Manager—Renewables & New Initiatives directs integrated marketing and communication activities to raise awareness of and promote Energy Trust’s portfolio of renewable-energy related products and services and oversees marketing for special grant-funded initiatives and collaborations. Specific examples include Energy Trust’s suite of solar-related offers, the Oregon Community Solar program and geotargeted collaborations with utility stakeholders and community based organizations. You will provide strategic direction to and may eventually manage other internal program marketing staff working on marketing efforts related to these programs, products or services.

You will collaborate with your counterparts on the program and technical teams, direct and manage the performance of external vendors and creative agencies working on campaigns, and lead all annual marketing planning, contracting, and budgeting activities for these programs. You may also serve as a subject matter expert on internal cross-sector initiatives or projects and are responsible for collaborating and aligning the strategies and activities within their portfolio with Energy Trust’s Communications and Customer Services Group, which includes staff specializing in community outreach, policy, customer experience, trades, communications, and brand.

What You’ll Do:

  • Demonstrate a solid background in marketing principles and execution required to lead the strategic vision of integrated marketing efforts.
  • Supervise and/or provide strategic direction to marketing staff and collaborate with other program staff to deliver marketing that helps achieve program and initiative energy generation and savings goals, conversion targets and objectives related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Scope, monitor and apply customer insights and market intelligence to develop and optimize campaigns.
  • Continue to expand Energy Trust’s relationships and engagement with diverse content creators, creative agencies, and vendors to support inclusive and multicultural marketing best practices.
  • Direct strategy, scope work and acquire creative resources to deliver effective marketing that supports program goals.
  • Develop and oversee marketing-specific scopes, budgets and contracts for all contracted marketing work, including program delivery contracts, scopes and creative service providers.
  • Support public relations strategy for Energy Trust’s Solar-related offers and collaborate with the organizational communications team for broader PR efforts on other renewable energy work, such as irrigation modernization.
  • Oversee and/or direct editorial planning to support the Renewables program portfolio.
  • Oversee or direct grassroots and experiential marketing strategies.
  • Oversee the development and management of annual Renewables program marketing budgets.
  • Maintain working relationships with marketing and outreach staff at utilities, including collaborating on strategy to reach customers, and providing insights and details on program activities and results to utilities.
  • Support the organizational marketing and communications team to align brand and program marketing communications and outreach coordination/collaboration.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Hire and supervise staff to support business to business program marketing
  • Hire and direct the work of internal and external contractors, such as market research firms, creative service providers, and specialized marketing consultants.

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, brand, or a related field, or equivalent experience working at a marketing agency or brand.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience developing integrated marketing communications strategies, managing multiple marketing and communications campaigns simultaneously, and managing and/or collaborating with large, interdisciplinary internal and external teams.
  • Experience developing and executing both business to business and business to consumer integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory management experience, preferred.
  • Familiarity with the energy industry and/or environmental non-profits, particularly in Oregon, is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a nonprofit and/or an industry working in a public policy landscape is preferred.
  • Knowledge, interest and/or experience in inclusive, multicultural marketing to reach diverse audiences. Spanish-language proficiency a plus, but not essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing multiple, large budgets and contracts.
  • Experience scoping and/or applying customer insights research and campaign measurement to support the development and optimization of marketing campaigns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage the creative process and provide effective direction to creative professionals.
  • Excellent oral, written communication abilities including strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel software programs.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications in the pay equity assessment to determine equitable salary placement.

Starting Compensation: $90,500 – $115,700
