Terms and Conditions of Refrigerator / Freezer Recycling Initiative (“Initiative”)

Energy Trust of Oregon, Inc. (“Energy Trust”) has contracted with Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. (“PECI”) and JACO Environmental, Inc. (“JACO”) (collectively the “Program”) to implement the Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Initiative (“Initiative”) as part of the Energy Trust Products Program.

By signing and submitting this Application, each Applicant agrees to the following terms and conditions:

1. To be eligible to participate in the Initiative, applicant must be an Oregon electric service customer of Portland General Electric or Pacific Power. Only refrigerators or freezers that are between 10 and 30 cubic feet in volume size and still operating are eligible for recycling under the Initiative. Smaller or larger refrigerators or freezers, of any size that are not working will not be accepted for pickup for the Initiative.

2. The Initiative will pay incentives for recycling up to the following limits:

  • For single family home Properties: a maximum of 3 units per Property
  • For multiple family home Properties: a maximum of 2 units per Residence
  • For Business Properties (non-residential Properties): a maximum of 5 units per Business Property

3. For multiple family home Properties and Business Properties, Applicant must include a signed W9 form with this Application.

4. Applicant agrees and understands that the Program has the right to refuse any unit pick-up if there is a belief of fraudulent or suspicious activity.

5. Applicant hereby authorizes Energy Trust to access energy usage data relating to the Property or Business Property from which the unit has been recycled, by allowing them to access the electric and natural gas accounts at the physical address of the Property or Business Property. Applicant agrees to provide reasonable assistance to Energy Trust to obtain such information.

6. Applicant also agrees that Energy Trust may include his/her name in Energy Trust services and resulting energy savings in reports or other documentation submitted to the Energy Trust Board of Directors, the Oregon Public Utility Commission, Oregon Department of Energy, Oregon Housing & Community Services or the Oregon Legislature. Energy Trust will treat all other information gathered in evaluations as confidential and report this information only in the aggregate.

7. Applicant hereby releases his/her electric utility, PECI, Energy Trust, JACO and their respective employees, agents and sub-contractor(s) from any and all claims resulting from the removal of the units (s) from the listed Property or Business Property.

8. The Program is not responsible for any tax liability which may be imposed on Applicant as a result of payment of any incentives. The Program is not providing tax advice, and any such communication by the Program is not intended to be used, and cannot be used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties under the Internal Revenue Code.
