Direct-Vent Gas Fireplaces

Direct-vent gas fireplace

Safe and easy to operate, high-efficiency direct-vent gas fireplaces provide heat directly to the interior spaces of your choice. Energy Trust maintains a list of qualifying models for gas fireplaces, which includes inserts, zero-clearance gas units and free-standing gas stoves. It is recommended that you contact a retailer or trade ally contractor directly to see what type of fireplace is best suited for your home.

Some gas fireplaces use a pilot light ignition, or a small flame, to ignite the gas needed to operate the unit. Unless you manually turn the pilot light off, the flame stays lit year-round, wasting energy and money. A unit with an electronic ignition system. called an intermittent pilot ignition or pilot on-demand ignition, can reduce wasted energy and utility costs.

Energy Trust offers cash incentives for direct-vent gas fireplaces with an intermittent pilot ignition or pilot on-demand ignition.
