Home Performance with ENERGY STAR

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR takes your entire home into account—from heating and cooling systems to weatherization—to show how your house uses energy and what improvements will help your home work at peak performance, using the least energy. After your assessment, you’ll receive a Home Energy Performance Plan based on your home’s results.

Benefits of Home Performance

What can Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® do for you?

  • Reduce energy use and costs: Enjoy using less energy while saving as much as 30 percent on annual heating, cooling and water heating costs when you make recommended home improvements.
  • Increase your comfort: By making your home work as an efficient, coordinated system, you can stay cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and eliminate drafts.
  • Make your home safer: Know your home is safe when the rigorously trained Home Performance contractor tests the carbon monoxide levels of all your combustion appliances—stoves, furnaces and water heaters. Your contractor will also ask about and inspect any known problems in the home—water leaks, moisture build-up and cold drafts—that could lead to health issues.
  • Build long-term home value: The investments you make to improve the energy efficiency of your home may increase the overall value of your home for years to come.
  • Be confident in the work: Your contractor is trained and certified to Building Performance Institute standards, and uses diagnostic equipment to evaluate your home’s savings potential and ensure your comfort and safety.
  • Get Energy Trust cash incentives and state tax credits: Receive cash incentives from us to help offset the cost of your energy-saving home improvements. Get more cash when you make multiple improvements. You may also be eligible to receive state and federal tax credits on qualifying improvements.

Incentive offer is subject to availability of funding and may change.

Oregon customers heating their homes with electricity or natural gas from Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas can participate.

Oregon homes that heat with oil, propane, kerosene, butane or wood can conduct their own energy audit and apply for cash rebates for installed weatherization upgrades through the Oregon Department of Energy's SHOW (State Home Oil Weatherization) program.

Energy Trust does not pay incentives for energy-efficient improvements that are mandated for building code compliance, such as remodeling, renovation or new additions to the home.
