Windows cash incentives

Your home's windows play a large part in regulating energy use and costs. Installing ENERGY STAR® qualified high-efficiency windows reduces condensation, decreases drafts and air leaks, and can increase house value and curb appeal. New, tight-fitting windows also help seal your home against unwanted air intrusion or escape. (Be sure to air seal all gaps, cracks and interior window perimeters with caulk or low-expansion window foam prior to window trim installation.)

Energy Trust offers cash for new, high-efficiency windows when they are installed along with a second energy-saving improvement. Read more below about applying for cash incentives and hiring a contractor:

Windows must be installed with a second complete energy-saving improvement.

Any of the following additional improvements qualify as the second needed improvement:

Improvements must meet all program specifications and requirements to qualify as the second needed improvement.

Electric- and gas-heated homes: $3.50 per square foot of windows installed
U-Value 0.22 or less (available for Oregon customers only)

Windows must be installed together with a second energy-saving improvement to receive a cash incentive. Both improvements must be installed within 90 days of each other; the incentive application must also be received within this time.

Incentive offer is subject to availability of funding and may change.

Tax Credits

Federal energy tax credit: 30 percent of cost, up to $1,500. See rules and requirements.

Oregon customers heating their homes with electricity or natural gas from Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas can participate.

Washington customers heating their homes with natural gas from NW Natural can receive our incentives.

Oregon homes that heat with oil, propane, kerosene, butane or wood can conduct their own energy audit and apply for cash rebates for installed weatherization upgrades through the Oregon Department of Energy's SHOW (State Home Oil Weatherization) program.

Energy Trust does not pay incentives for energy-efficient improvements that are mandated for building code compliance, such as remodeling, renovation or new additions to the home.

Follow these easy steps to get cash for installing new windows in your home:

1: Establish your eligibility.

2: Select a contractor to install your windows.
To receive an Energy Trust cash incentive, contact a quality, energy-efficiency trained Energy Trust trade ally contractor or any contractor with a current Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) license.

3: Select your second energy-saving improvement and have it installed within 90 days of your window installation. You may work with an Energy Trust trade ally contractor or any CCB licensed contractor to have this second improvement completed.

4: Submit your application forms, for the windows plus the second improvement, within 90 days of installation.  Mail or fax your signed and completed incentive application form along with your contractor's invoice(s)—marked “paid in full.” Documentation of U-Value and size for each window must also be submitted. Proof of U-Value must be submitted as a packing slip or invoice from the manufacturer, or NFRC sticker. Proof of window size must be submitted as a packing slip or invoice from the manufacturer, distributor, retailer or contractor. Your contractor must submit a Windows Addendum as documentation of window size if a packing slip or invoice is unavailable.  All required documentation should be submitted to:
