To be feasible, a small wind turbine installation site must meet a few key qualifications. The site must:

• Be at least one acre in size
• Be located within about 1,500 feet of a utility's electrical meter
• Experience average wind speeds of at least 10 mph

Please note: This map utilizes data from wind models that may not be accurate at all locations. Wind speeds in urban areas are especially problematic and can be reported as higher than they actually are. In general, small wind turbines are not suitable for urban areas.
