Training Requirements

For Solar Program

Energy Trust conducts training sessions for individuals and businesses interested in becoming Solar program trade allies (or simply learning about our solar incentives). The training familiarizes contractors with the Solar program’s processes, current incentive levels, application paperwork, policies and technical installation requirements.

All prospective Solar program trade allies must attend a training session before being approved. These sessions are generally offered as free webinars throughout the year—pre-registration is required in order to receive the webinar log-in and conference call information.

The next solar trainings will be offered:

State tax credit training

Contractors interested in becoming Energy Trust solar trade allies installing residential solar electric and/or solar water heating systems should also become Tax Credit Certified Technicians (TCCT) with Oregon Department of Energy. Becoming a TCCT qualifies contractors to verify Residential Energy Tax Credit installations for their customers. To be tax credit certified, contractors must pass a technology-specific competency exam and attend training on the Oregon Department of Energy tax credit program. Learn more at the Oregon Department of Energy’s solar professional webpage.
