Limited-time $50 fridge recycling incentive
Be sure to let your customers know that for a limited time they can get a $50 cash incentive from Energy Trust for recycling their old fridge or freezer. This offer is available between now and December 31, 2009, and includes free in-home pickup. Free pick-up and a $30 incentive are available to customers who contact Energy Trust after December 31, 2009. Read more about the requirements.
State tax credits available for qualifying appliances
Did you know that by purchasing an ENERGY STAR® appliance, you can become eligible to receive a tax credit from the Oregon Department of Energy? They offer a wide range of tax credits on purchases that make your home more efficient, including appliances, water heaters, solar upgrades and heating and ventilation.
- Savings with a Spin—In addition to the $75 or $100 Energy Trust cash incentive you can receive with the purchase of a qualified clothes washer, the state offers a tax credit of up to $180. Requirements for Oregon Department of Energy's tax credits include:
- Clothes washers must have a Modified Energy Factor (MEF) of 2.0 or better
- Clothes washers must have a maximum Water Factor (WF) of 6.5 gal/cu ft/cycle
- Savings in the Fridge—In addition to our $50 incentive, qualifying refrigerators and freezers that are at least 20 percent more efficient than federal standards may qualify for an Oregon tax credit. Requirements include that these models have fully automatic defrost cycles and are sized between 12 and 30 cubic feet.
