The role lighting plays in the built environment

This BESF presentation will enlighten the audience on the role lighting plays in the built environment. Beyond visual comfort and providing adequate illumination for safety, lighting can reveal architectural intent, establish mood and atmosphere, and offer a broad range of capabilities to boost occupant productivity and wellbeing.

In this hour-long presentation, we will explore how lighting can help achieve these outcomes while also covering advanced energy-efficiency systems. Subjects to be discussed include:

  • Luminaire level lighting control (LLLC), a capability of networked lighting control (NLC) systems that enables significant energy savings
  • Current lighting industry culture and practices
  • Rapidly maturing systems such as the Internet of Things (IoT)
