Juneteenth Celebration 2019

JUNE 15, 2019 | 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • This event has passed.

Juneteenth Oregon invites you to come celebrate Juneteenth 2019. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Today Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. The festival is a community event filled with family friendly activities for everyone. Come listen to live music from local talent, grab a bite to eat from local food vendors, and shop from various Portland-made craft vendors. While you’re at it, take some information from the many resource booths that will be there. Energy Trust of Oregon is a proud sponsor of Juneteenth Oregon, and will have a booth at the event.

The day kicks off at 11:00AM with The Clara Peoples Freedom Trail Parade honoring Portland’s very own Mr. Samuel Thompson as Grand Marshall. The starting point of the parade is Safeway on MLK/Ainsworth going Southbound down MLK then turning Westbound on Russell ending at Dawson Park, also known as the Legacy Emanuel Hospital Field.
