Homeowners can receive $50 when they buy a smart thermostat
Energy Trust of Oregon adds new smart thermostat model to incentive offer to help reduce home energy use
PORTLAND, Ore. — July 11, 2017 — Have you ever wanted to control your home’s temperature from your phone or computer? When purchasing a smart thermostat, you may qualify for an Energy Trust of Oregon $50 cash incentive. Energy Trust is now adding ecobee4 to its list of qualifying thermostats — along with ecobee3 and the Nest Learning Thermostat.
Installing a smart thermostat can help reduce energy costs and keep homes comfortable year-round. Smart thermostats use sensors to tell when you or your family members are away and can learn your daily schedule. Some models use local weather information to make automatic energy-saving temperature changes. Most homeowners can expect to save $35 to $45 on their energy bills every year.
“With a smart thermostat, you can save energy, save money and enjoy a more comfortable home,” said Katie Wallace, residential spokesperson, Energy Trust. “We want to help more Oregon homeowners benefit from this technology.”
Owners of single-family and manufactured homes are eligible if they live in Oregon and heat their homes with electricity or natural gas provided by Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas or Avista. Homeowners in Washington who heat their homes with gas provided by NW Natural are also eligible.
