Fighting Fires, Saving Energy and Preparing for the Future
Join us for the first virtual Allies for Efficiency training and tour. We’ll hear from the North Lincoln Fire & Rescue Bob Everest Fire Station design and construction team about how recent building renovations and energy-efficiency upgrades will benefit the community for years to come.
After a bond was passed in 2018, the station was approved for Oregon’s Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program (SRGP) before reaching out to Energy Trust for additional support. The building now meets current structural, electrical, ADA and fire codes, while the improved lighting and mechanical upgrades are expected to save over 14,250 kWh and 1,520 therms annually, as well as $2,240 on energy bills.
By working with Energy Trust’s New Buildings program early in the remodeling process, the fire station received over $7,600 in cash incentives.
For this virtual training and tour, the panelists will talk about how the building was designed and constructed to be seismically retrofitted and energy efficient. They will also discuss how selected equipment (passive cooling system, solar panels, LED lighting and a high-efficiency heating system) was chosen and installed to make the station a clean building.
