Chemeketa Community College’s Agriculture Complex: Designing and teaching to preserve the Willamette Valley’s green future
Join us May 6 for a free webinar and virtual building tour of Chemeketa Community College’s Agriculture Complex––the school’s third Path to Net Zero project. Panelists will discuss the building’s design, the goal of constructing for net zero and the importance of teaching sustainability to the next generation.
The 14,000-square-foot complex includes new indoor and outdoor facilities for the college’s agriculture and horticulture programs, space for industry consortia and commodity groups, and learning gardens that support local high school and Future Farmers of America (FFA) curricula.
The complex has a high-performance envelope, daylighting and natural ventilation, efficient mechanical systems with VRF and DOAS, advanced lighting controls and solar panels. It also features cross-laminated timber. The project achieved an energy use intensity target significantly lower than a community college building of a similar size.
To achieve its energy-efficiency goals, Chemeketa Community College enrolled in Energy Trust’s Path to Net Zero offering. The project received over $57,800 in cash incentives and has estimated annual energy savings of 104,700 kWh.
