Meet our presenters:

Lisa Gartland, PhD, Facilities Engineer in the Codes and Standard section of the Oregon Department of Energy.

Lisa is a Facilities Engineer in the Codes and Standards section of the Oregon Department of Energy. In addition to earning degrees in mechanical engineering and authoring the book Heat Islands, Understanding and Mitigating Heat in Urban Areas, she has extensive experience with energy efficient technologies, building energy analysis, and demand reduction programs. She currently provides technical support for the development and administration of building energy codes and appliance efficiency standards in Oregon, and oversight for the Building Performance Standard (BPS), State Energy Efficiency Design (SEED), and Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) programs at ODOE.

Blake Shelide, PE, codes and standards manager for the Building Energy Performance Standards program, Oregon Department of Energy

Blake is the manager of the Codes and Standards section with the Oregon Department of Energy and is the lead for the agency’s role in administering product efficiency standards, Building Performance Standards and supporting the Oregon energy code, among other policies and programs. Prior to his current role, Blake served as a Facilities Engineer with ODOE, providing technical expertise across ODOE programs. Blake is a licensed mechanical engineer in Oregon, and his career has included work as a consulting design engineer as well as serving as a corporate energy manager for a large industrial manufacturer. Blake also works with public agencies in Oregon to assist with energy efficiency for new facility design and retrofits and to track and reduce energy consumption.
