A Framework for Modernizing Grid Planning and Operations with Distributed Energy Resources and Load Management
How do we incorporate alternatives like distributed and renewable resources into grid planning and operations? What role do buildings and customers have in providing value to the grid? How do we define grid metrics for reliably and resiliency from a customer viewpoint? A discussion on how buildings can benefit the grid and advance grid planning and operations to include them.

Ryan Fedie, Engineering Manager, Bonneville Power Administration
Ryan crafts his work to lead the transition to a more efficient economy powered by a clean and modern electric grid. At BPA Ryan has lead the energy efficiency engineering department, non-wires and grid modernization efforts across power and transmission. Ryan had been heavily involved in R&D and Emerging Technology programs for BPA, regionally and nationally. Ryan has three engineering degrees yet spends most of his time simply counting to three while keeping track of his three young boys.
