Terwilliger Plaza assisted living facility: Employing energy modeling analysis to support a more sustainable and comfortable residential community
Join us for a Building Energy Simulation Forum (BESF) on July 26 to learn about Parkview at Terwilliger Plaza – a new high-rise building that adds 127 independent living apartments to the existing three-building senior living campus. Designed for Passive House© certification, this highly energy efficient building is projected to use 50% less energy than code compliant buildings. The design also includes continuous preconditioned fresh air circulation, resulting in interior spaces that are healthy, quiet and thermally comfortable. This unique building also includes green living roofs, green living walls and solar panels.
PAE Engineering and LRS Architects will share how this project’s EUI goals and the owner’s commitment to sustainability, resident comfort and safety and health resulted in extensive analysis including:
- Whole building and system life-cycle analysis (IESVE)
- Building Passive House analysis scope and progression across the project (PHIUS)
- Thermal bridging, moisture conditions and effects of humidity analysis with architectural coordination (WUFI)
Participants will also hear how the architecture and engineering teams applied the dual modeling analysis to better inform the building’s energy, life cycle and cost analysis. The webinar will conclude with a comparison of final results from both study pathways and the design and coordination lessons learned.
