Join Energy Trust of Oregon and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) on April 27 for a free virtual training on the 2021 changes to the commercial provisions of the OEESC.

This 90-minute webinar is geared toward members of the design, building and code compliance industries. It will feature an overview of the current Oregon commercial energy code and recent policy developments.

Attendees will learn about the requirements of the recently adopted 2021 Oregon Energy Code, based on ASHRAE 90.1-2019, including envelope, mechanical and electrical requirements. In addition, the webinar will cover:

• Commercial provisions of the OEESC, including envelope, HVAC and electrical requirements for typical Oregon buildings
• Provisions that significantly affect energy use
• Changes from the last code cycle
• Code compliance pathways
• Additional resources

About the presenters

Blake Shelide, PE, is a facilities engineer with the Oregon Department of Energy and the lead for ODOE’s role with energy codes and standards. Blake provides technical expertise for many ODOE programs and is a licensed mechanical engineer in Oregon. He has worked as a design engineer and consultant, as well as a corporate energy manager for a large industrial manufacturer. He also serves on the Construction Industry Energy Board, working with stakeholders and the Building Codes Division on energy code issues. Blake has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Nick O’Neil, PE, is the director of research and evaluation at Energy 350. He is a mechanical engineer with 17 years of experience in the energy efficiency field. As a project manager and senior engineer, Nick works with commercial and industrial customers, program administrators and program evaluators. He has managed dozens of energy efficiency research and evaluation projects. Before joining Energy 350, Nick was a senior planning engineer with Energy Trust and manager of the Regional Technical Forum. Nick is a registered professional engineer and a LEED-accredited professional, and he has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University at Buffalo.
