Scientific Irrigation Scheduling

Scientific Irrigation Scheduling allows a grower to fine-tune irrigation by using soil moisture monitors, weather station data and evapotranspiration rates. Experienced vendors across the state offer the service and software that meet specifications for energy savings. Many growers report water and energy savings of 10% or more, as well as reduced use of fertilizer which is good for their bottom line and the environment.

  1. Contact Energy Trust to establish your eligibility.

    Call us at 1.866.202.0576 or email production@energytrust.org. To be eligible for the incentive, you must sign up with Energy Trust before ordering or purchasing any related equipment or services and before the start of your irrigation season.

  2. Choose an approved vendor.

    If you need help identifying an approved vendor in your area, call Energy Trust at 1.866.202.0576 or check the the Energy Trust website.

  3. Return a signed application form.

  4. Work with your chosen vendor over the course of the growing season.

    Your vendor can help you apply for the Energy Trust incentive, set up a scientific irrigation scheduling (SIS) system on your property and provide ongoing support to operate your SIS system through the growing season. At the end of the season, your vendor will provide a report to Energy Trust to verify that SIS was practiced.

Energy Trust will pay a cash incentive up to 100% of eligible project costs and service fees per irrigated acre. Cash incentives are calculated based on operating hours and usage.

The incentive is paid at the end of each growing season and must be renewed each year. The incentive is payable upon receipt of all cost documentation and completion forms. Energy Trust incentives may be available for as many as three years per grower.

Growers who are required to perform Scientific Irrigation Scheduling or Irrigation Water Management as part of any other funding program are not eligible for this incentive.
