New high-speed door improves temperature control and increases energy savings.

Unified Grocers’ 882,000-square-foot distribution center operates 24 hours a day and was in need of a solution to help lower cooling costs. With the help of Energy Trust the company identified the installation of a new high-speed roll door between its refrigerated food dock and forklift service bay as the ideal energy-efficiency project to accomplish this goal.

“We’re pleased with the level of attention and service from the Energy Trust team, not to mention the performance and return on investment,” said Joe Gomez, manager of plant services, Unified Grocers.

Energy Trust provided the company with a $6,566 cash incentive and estimated the upgrade would result in annual cost savings of $4,800.
