Portland, Ore. — February 12, 2014 — Energy Trust of Oregon has recently added Kenneth Mitchell-Phillips of Multnomah County to its board of directors for a three-year term.

Mitchell-Phillips is an attorney and president of Easy Legal Northwest, Inc., which provides high-quality, low-cost and personalized legal services throughout Oregon and Washington. He recently served as general counsel, vice president of human resources, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary at NxSystems, Inc., a company providing global electronic payment solutions with offices in Oregon, Canada, Ireland and the U.K. Mitchell-Phillips also specialized in corporate law as an associate attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and established Mitchell-Phillips Law, P.C. where he provided legal services to businesses throughout the Pacific Northwest. In addition to practicing law, Mitchell-Phillips teaches business law courses at Portland Community College and is a member of the Oregon State Bar.

Drawn from communities around the state, Energy Trust board directors represent a broad spectrum of expertise from the private sector and public institutions. Board members, all volunteers, provide strategic and policy direction for the nonprofit, which designs and delivers programs that help residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers save energy and generate renewable power. The 15-member board approves the organization’s annual budget and major expenditures. Board members bring independent viewpoints to their oversight of Energy Trust, which operates under a grant agreement with the Oregon Public Utility Commission.

The Energy Trust board officers include Reynolds, board president, a University of Oregon professor of architecture emeritus who lives in Eugene. He has served on the Energy Trust board since the organization was established 12 years ago. Debbie Kitchin, vice president, is a Portland business owner. Alan Meyer, secretary, is the director of energy management for Weyerhaeuser Company in Salem, and Dan Enloe, treasurer, is a Washington County resident and supply chain manager at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro.

Other members currently serving on Energy Trust’s board include Rick Applegate, Applegate Consulting, Portland; Julie Brandis, Oregon State University Foundation, Corvallis; Ken Canon, Canon and Hutton law firm, Myrtle Creek; Roger Hamilton, Western Grid Group, Eugene; Anne Haworth-Root, EdenVale Winery and Eden Valley Orchards, Medford; Mark Kendall, Kendall Energy Consulting, Salem; Jeff King, Northwest Power and Conservation Council (retired),

Portland; and Dave Slavensky, Earth Cruiser USA, Bend. Representatives from the OPUC and the Oregon Department of Energy serve as non-voting board members.
