PORTLAND, Ore. — June 18, 2019 — Energy Trust of Oregon has hired Pendleton resident, facility planning consultant and energy industry leader Caryn Appler as its outreach manager for Eastern Oregon. In this capacity, Caryn will engage with utility customers of Pacific Power, Cascade Natural Gas and Avista and other community members across Eastern Oregon to connect them to Energy Trust offers and help them save energy and generate renewable energy. Caryn takes on the role from Susan Badger-Jones, a long-time Energy Trust outreach manager who retired at the end of May.

Caryn comes to her new role with deep experience with Energy Trust’s services and offers for residential customers and relationships with Eastern Oregon communities, which she gained while working as a residential account manager for CLEAResult, one of Energy Trust’s program delivery contractors.

“I’m excited to continue building relationships in my community while helping residents and businesses use energy wisely,” said Caryn. “This part of the state is unique to other areas in Oregon and to be successful we have to be familiar with the needs of communities here. I am excited to bring as much benefit as possible to customers here.”

Prior to her role at CLEAResult, Caryn worked for Wenaha Group, a project management and construction consulting firm formerly based in Pendleton that specializes in education, tribal, public agency and healthcare projects. She also held varied roles at InterMountain Education Service District, which provides services to school districts that may lack capacity or resources.

“With her passion for and roots in Eastern Oregon, we are fortunate to have Caryn join our team,” said Michael Colgrove, Energy Trust’s executive director. “We’ve been proud to call Susan Badger-Jones a colleague for more than 12 years. Caryn is a member of the Pendleton Parks and Recreation Commission and serves on the board for the Pendleton Center for the Arts, where she also is a ceramics instructor.
